澳门艺术博物馆1999年3月随澳门文化中心综合体开幕，是回归前最后落成的文化地标之一，也是全澳规模最大、藏品体系最完整的视觉艺术馆。藏品以澳门及珠三角历史绘画、广东石湾陶塑与本地当代作品为骨架，开馆以来每年举办「故宫博物院年度大展」等国际合作项目，将清宫文物、敦煌遗珍等引入小城，同时以双年? 早年澳门艺术家联展培育本地创作生态。对艺术生与设计专业学生而言，这里是了解「西画东渐」脉络的最佳课堂。
Opened with the Cultural Centre in March 1999 — the last cultural landmark before the handover — MAM holds the territory's fullest art collection, built on historical paintings of the Pearl River Delta, Shiwan ceramics and contemporary Macao work. Annual loans from Beijing's Palace Museum bring imperial treasures to the small city while home-grown shows nurture local artists — the best classroom on how Western painting came east.
